Adrian Meeuwissen

           Dad passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on Father’s Day at the Bulkley Lodge, closely following the passing of his wife, our mom (Johanna) in early May.

            Dad was a proud man.  He was most proud of us, his children, supporting and encouraging us all to complete university degrees and become hard working members of society.    He was predeceased by his son, Bill (Leah); survived by daughters Irene, Adri (Cam), Joany and Antonette (Kent).

            He was proud of his business, Nadina Truck Service, and of being a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.  He proudly represented Houston as an Alderman, and as Mayor, then as a School Trustee.

            He was enthusiastically involved in the Senior Games organization as a coordinator and as a Track & Field athlete.  He believed in volunteerism and continued to demonstrate this by working with senior’s golf and with the curling club.

            Dad worked hard all his life but relaxed with pastimes such as flying his Cessna, ocean fishing, competing at the Senior games in Track & Field, golfing and curling as much as possible.  And could he grow a garden? Best raspberries anywhere!

            We were also very proud of our hard working father, as he spent the last 6 years taking care of our mom as she suffered through her Alzheimer’s disease.  A lesser person would have folded under the enormous weight of his final job.

             Come unto me,

               All ye that labour

            And are heavy laden

            And I will give you rest    - Matthew 11, 28-30
