Alice (Aaltje) Oomen Obituary
Alice is survived by her husband Bill, son Rodney, daughter Sonya, and granddaughter Dannaie; her sister Annie (Sid) Jaarsma, brothers, Stan (JoAnne) Boonstra, Hans (Nancy) Boonstra, Jochum (Trijntje) Boonstra, sister-in-law Grace Boonstra, and many nieces and nephews.
Alice (Aaltje) was born to Ruurd and Blijke Boonstra in Duurswoude, The Netherlands. She married Willem (Bill) Oomen in 1959, honeymooned in Canada, and never left. They settled and raised their family in Smithers, BC.
Alice spent many hours as a volunteer, especially with the Bulkley Valley District Hospital Auxiliary. She loved gardening and enjoyed spending time with her close group of friends. She will be missed by all.
Many thanks to the BVD Hospital doctors, nurses and staff for all your care in her final days.
As per Alice’s wishes, no Memorial Service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Sparrows Christian Housing.
