It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden, but peaceful, passing of Dominic Joseph Cole, on the 25th day of January, 2023 at the age of 70.
He will forever be missed by his loving wife and best friend, Sheila, and his son Jamie, whom he cherished more than anything in the world.
Dom is also survived by his siblings, Gord (Gail), Eugene (Renita), of Smithers, Doug, Leona (Dale), Linda of Kamloops, Diane (Brian) and Frankie of Newfoundland, brothers-in-law, Bob, John (Effie), sister-in-law Joan (Gerald) of Ontario, Liz Williams and Maria Williams of Newfoundland as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank And Veronica Cole and sister, Denise Marie Cole.
Dom was a proud Newfoundlander, born on December 18, 1952 in Colliers. He met and married his childhood sweetheart Sheila Williams in 1975 and in 1978 their family was complete when they welcomed their son, Jamie. He was an incredibly kind and generous man whose handshake was worth more than any legal document. His word was his truth. His second passion was driving logging trucks which he did for over 30 years, owning his own truck, D. Cole Trucking. He often said he would drive until his last day and that is what he did. An avid sports fan, the Toronto Maple Leafs was his team and he never lost hope of seeing them win another Stanley Cup.
Dom valued and cherished his family and the many friends he met throughout his life, never forgetting about or losing touch with them. He loved his family and friends unconditionally. He will be missed forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Smithers on the 4th day of February, 2023 at 1:00 pm. All are welcome to come and share stories.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Muscular Dystrophy Canada.
