Eugene was born in Keremeos on June 8, 1936 to Blanche and Charles (Fred) Overton, sadly passing away on August 30, 2024 in Smithers BC
Gene was deeply loved by his family and friends, leaving behind Mickey, his wife of 67 years, and their children Shelley of Kaslo, Jud (Sue) of St Albert, Grant (Flo) of Williams Lake, Graham (Diane) of Chase, and Marlene (Bruce) of Smithers; grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his siblings Bonnie, Thelma (Bruce), Helen (Jack), Margaret (Ray) & Gerald and their extended families. He was predeceased by sisters Sherrie, Doreen & Jeanette.
He grew up in the southern Okanagan, moving to Williams Lake in his teen years, where he met his wife and his best friend Shuster. Gene and Mickey moved to Cassiar in 1958, where he worked as a shovel operator in the mine, then a guide and outfitter, to a plow and grader operator, all while ranching with hay & horses at their property at Boya Lake.
Such a kind and patient man, the hardest worker, builder & inventor of many things needed to live in the north. He will be missed dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
