George Gagnon Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Henry Gagnon, on February 24, 2023.

George was born to Annie & Louis Gagnon on March 14, 1950.  He is survived by his children Deanne Gagnon (son Cole) and Jonathan Gagnon.  Also his brother’s Alphonse (Lucy) & family,  Adam & family, Chris & family and sister Antoinette Austin (son Denee).  He was pre deceased by his sister Janie Naziel and oldest brother Larry Tommy and baby sister Angeline at 18 months of age.  There are many nieces & nephews from his siblings that he made feel special by being in their presence.

George lived his adult life in Houston and made life long friends there. He was employed by several sawmills but ended his career by retiring from Houston Forest Products.   He was known for his love of cars and the wheeling & dealing when he found a better deal but had to reduce his inventory to purchase this vehicle.  His niece Lorraine took him to see a vintage car enthusiast in Maple Ridge, while he was down in Vancouver for a medical appointment.  He was awestruck and speechless and that is so unlike George.  She made his day.  George also loved Elvis and could be found at Karaoke singing to his hearts content.

George succumbed to cancer but he put up a long fight.  His family surrounded him with love during his final days and the family can’t thank the Bulkley Lodge enough for the kindness they showed George.

Final arrangements are being made in the cultural ways of the Wet'suwet'en.  Therefore, there will be a Smoke Feast on February 27, 2023 to hire father clan, a Celebration of Life on February 28, 2023 at 6:00 pm at the Witset Multiplex and his Funeral Service will be on March 1, 2023 at the Witset Multiplex with Pastor Larry Balentine officiating.

Until we meet again, we will treasure the memories we have of George.
