It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of our beloved husband & father. Jim passed away peacefully at home on July 11, 2023, surrounded by love.
Jim was born in Aberdeen, Scotland and immigrated to Victoria, Canada at the age of 5. He moved to Smithers in 1978 with his wife and young son, where they welcomed their daughter. Throughout the years Jim was a member of the curling and golf clubs and was involved in slow-pitch and both coached and umpired junior softball in the 90’s. Jim also had a strong connection with the Legion and enjoyed cleaning up at the meat draws!
Jim is survived by his wife Carol; son Chris; daughter Correne (Martin); grandchildren Hayden, Tyler, Cassidy, and Brett and his 2 surviving brothers George (Sue) and Stephen (Nicole).
The family would like to thank the nurses that came to the house and allowed Jim to remain at home during his final days.
A Celebrations of Life will be held in the Smithers Legion on Saturday, July 29th at 1:00 pm. A second Celebration of Life will be held In Victoria in the fall. Date and time yet to be determined.
A man this great MUST be celebrated TWICE!
