Jamie was born March 13, 1948 in Prince Rupert, BC to Don & Marion McEwen. He lived in Houston his whole life and attended school in Houston except for his last 2 years which were spent at the Prince George Catholic College. In 1950, his family opened McEwens Mens Mart, Houston's first clothing store. At the age of 16 he met the love of his life, Sharon and they were married in 1968. At this time he was a saw filer at Buck Creek Sawmills. Jamie went into the family business in 1970. He later expanded the business with a new 1974 Western Star logging truck. He was a very hard working man and he continued working the logging industry up until he went into the hospital. In 1972 his first son Jason was born, followed by second son Ryan 18 months later.
Hockey was a big part of Jamie's life. He played for the original Houston Luckies and coached his son's hockey teams all the way through their minor hockey years. Jamie's passions were relaxing out at the lake property in the summer and putting up his beautiful display of Christmas lights in the winter. Jamie also enjoyed his time travelling with Sharon in their 5th wheel to Arizona and other places.
Jamie was a wonderful husband, father and papa. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years Sharon; son Jason, daughter-in-law Lori, grandchildren Taylor, Kelsey, Walker, Ryder and Paige; son Ryan, daughter-in-law Henrietta, grandchildren Jamie-Lee and Tyrell; brother Greg, sister-in-law Denise.
