June Valera Ridennoure/Cocks nee Giddings, our Mom, our Granny, our Aunty June, was born 28 June 1922 in Ocean Falls, BC., and passed away peacefully in the Smithers
hospital on 26 June 2021.
June's first marriage was to Bill Cocks, of Telkwa and together they raised three children.
June loved life, and had many hobbies which she really took pride in. Many will
remember her for her bake sales, her knitting and her quilting. At the age of 98, her knitting was still taking the first place ribbon at the Bulkley Valley Fall Fair, which is something she looked forward to every year. She actively participated in the BV Fair for well over 70 years.
The secret to living a long life she would always say, was "Keep your mind busy"
June was one of 14 children, and one of 4 to Alfred and Katie (Knox/Fox) Giddings
of Telkwa. June was predeceased by both her parents, both husbands, William Deeble Cocks "Bill" (2001) and Benjamin Grant Ridennoure (2006), brothers Earl, Ray and Ken Giddings. Brothers,
Bud Fox, Alfred Fox, Andy Fox, and Herbert Giddings. Sisters, Lavenna and Mabel Fox,
Violet, Ruth, Namoi, and Nanayo Giddings.
June had many family members, nieces and nephews who passed on before her. The recent
losses of her nephew Donald Giddings, her niece Melody, her cousin Elenor, her grandson Billy Mickelow-David and her son Thomas Cocks, were especially hard for her to bear.
June is survived by her Daughters Yvonne Mickelow from Terrace, and Dorothy Cocks of Smithers, Grandson's Paul and Tim Mickelow, and Grand Daughter Yvette Embry (Jeff) of Pennsylvania USA. Her great Grand Children Nick (Ocean) Smith, Donavan Smith, Julian Mickelow, Brandon (Ashley) Brekke, Tristan Seal and Selina Davis.
You can now fly Granny, you have wings - soar high up into the sky, but we know you will stay close to watch over us all like you always have. Until we meet again.
