Keith was born and raised in Smithers, BC to parents Owen and Ethel Hooper. He was the youngest of 4 children. His mother passed away from cancer when Keith was only 18. His father remarried to Jean who also had children of her own, becoming Keith’s stepsiblings. Keith decided high school wasn’t his thing, so he went to vocational school in Terrace. He became a certified Heavy Duty Mechanic and worked at Madigan Equipment Ltd, which later became Coast Tractor and changed hands again to which is now Brandt Tractor. Keith met the love of his life Tracy when he was quite young. They started dating as teenagers and married a few years later, on May 22, 1976. Keith and Tracy had 2 sons, Trevor and Kevin. Soon after Kevin was born, they built their forever home on Kroeker Road in Lake Kathlyn. Keith enjoyed everything the outdoors had to offer. Fishing with his family, hunting trips with his boys, archery shoots with Tracy and getting to share these activities with his grandchildren as they grew. If there were trees to cut with his chain saw, you could bet on it, Keith would cut those logs and build just about anything he set his mind on.
Keith was pre-deceased by his mother Ethel, father Owen, stepmother Jean, brother Doug and wife Tracy. He is survived by his sons Trevor (Jen) and Kevin (Meghan), grandchildren Layne, Brayden, Jaxson, Kody, Brooke, and Reese. Also, by his brother Dave (Marilyn), his sister Karen, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Bulkley Valley Rod and Gun Club on February 25, 2024 at 2pm.
