Lawrence Essar

In loving memory and with deep sadness we share the passing of Lawrence Essar, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend.

Lawrence was born to John and Lena Essar on July 20,1950 in Sheho, Sask., close to the family farm where he grew up.  After moving to Houston, BC, in the late 60’s, Lawrence spent most of his life there, until his passing on August 15, 2020 in Smithers, BC.

Lawrence met and married his loving wife Marilyn on December 10,1976, and they spent the next 50 years together.  Over the next 25 years they raised their loving daughters as well as numerous foster children.

Lawrence loved people, especially spending time with family and friends.  He was always quick to smile, tell a ‘dad’ joke, or loved to spend time talking and laughing with the people he cared about.  He was always willing to lend a hand to help others or to share his knowledge and skills, first as a baker, then as a logger and carpenter.

Lawrence’s life and memories will continue to be remembered by his wife Marilyn; daughters Natasha, Danielle, Izzie and Carrie; brothers Paul and Morris (Marianne); sister Jean, and numerous extended family and friends.

Lawrence is predeceased by his father and mother, sisters Mary, Liz and Kay, and brothers Willie and Walter.

A small family service was held on August 21, 2020.  A Celebration of Lawrence’s life will be held at a later date in Saskatchewan.
