Mitchell Peterson Obituary

It is with broken hearts and deep sorrow we must tell you that our dear brother, Mitchell Ryan Peterson passed away unexpectedly in his home in Williams Lake, on Dec. 27, 2021. There won’t be a day when he isn’t in our hearts and minds.

Mitchell was born In Smithers BC, July 29, 1971, the youngest child of Axel and Margaret (nee Bradley) Peterson. Mitchell was a kind, gentle, loyal and generous man; a son, a brother, a cousin, a nephew, a proud uncle, brother in-law, a very good friend but mostly a dedicated Dad.

He moved from Smithers as a young many living in many locations, including Kamloops, Port Coquitlam, Powell River, Whitehorse and Williams Lake.
He had many hobbies.  He was a Leading Cadet (Sea Cadets) in his teens, played in his first band in senior high school, practiced martial arts, enjoyed mountain biking, rock climbing, remote control cars, cooking, and video games but his deepest passion was for music.  He played many instruments and loved to sing and write songs.  He also taught music to whoever wanted to learn.  His favorite guitar was his red Fender which he played with his whole heart and soul bringing joy to all who played and listened and sang along.  He loved to jam and, fortunately, he had a jamming family and they did love to make music together. Mitchell was a Red Seal (Interprovincial Certification) electrician and was in the midst of starting his own business, and planned to move closer to home.  Smithers was always home for Mitch.

He had a deep love of family, friends and home.  He met Tanya Behan in 2014 and fell in love with her and her daughter Mia.  They eventually moved to Powell River where they started a family.  His deepest love was for his children, Mia (12), Eli (5) and Rowan (3).  He was a very proud and loving daddy.

The family requests, that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to assist the surviving children of Mitchell Peterson.  Donations can be made at any RBC Royal Bank Branch.  Contact Cathy Whalen at cwhalen@sd54.bc.ca or Tanya Behan miaandtanya@gmail.com or Lonny Wiebe at lonny.wiebe@rbc.com to obtain the donation account number.

Due to COVID 19, we must postpone a Celebration of Life to a later date.  When the time is right, we’ll let you know.  Bring your stories and your music.
