Pieter Izebrand Oosterhoff was born October 10th,1921 in Aduard, Groningen, the Netherlands. He was the 4th of 5 children born to Albert and Mennolina Oosterhoff (nee Gorter). On May 29, 1947, he married Auktje Aurelia Bosch.
In the spring of 1951 Dad and Mom immigrated to Canada with one daughter, leaving the Netherlands for new opportunities. They arrived in Halifax on April l ,1951 and travelled by train to McBride, B.C., where they lived for a few months before relocating to the Bulkley Valley. For the first five years, they called the farm of Les Donaldson and a logging camp on Burnt Cabin Road their home.
In 1956, our parents bought the farm at Round Lake where they lived for the rest of their lives. As hardworking pioneers, they cleared and established their farm and raised their 8 children there. In 1967 Dad began dairy farming, and after a rough start, was very successful and provided well for his family. He loved the area and often said that even if it was a tough place to farm, it would be crazy to leave such a gorgeous area. He truly loved the Bulkley Valley and especially his little spot in it.
We were incredibly privileged to be able to celebrate Dad's 100th birthday with him last October. He was able to enjoy the special attention of his family and community.
After a long and full life, his Lord and Saviour called him home at the age of 100, and he passed peacefully in his sleep early Thursday morning, Feb.3rd, 2022. Dad is survived by Ria (Lies) Rouw, Anieta (Ben) De Boer, Aurelia (Ray) Spronk, Linda (Koos)
Vanderveen, Albert (Donna) Oosterhoff, Rayner Oosterhoff, Clarence (Evelyn) Oosterhoff, Harry (Lori) Oosterhoff and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Auktje in 2018, by his 1st daughter Trieneke, and three great grandchildren: Joshua William,
Saul Tobias and Wyatt Edward.
