Rex Randall (Randy) Shoop

Rex Randall Shoop, Randy to all who knew him, passed away December 8,2021, in his own home in 2-Mile, Hazelton, B.C. In the last few weeks he was surrounded by his family, his cat, Hubert and his beloved miniature “Yorkie”, Klover, whom you would see going everywhere with him.

Those left whom he loved and who loved him:

Wife Verdell King, Step daughter Kyla (Marcus), Step grand children, Shayla (Dustin), and Brendan

Children: Bobby, Tina (Mike), Leona

Granddaughters: Cindy (Tony), Shelby (Robert), Quinn

Grandson: Rex

Great Granddaughter: Renee

Mother: Phyllis Shoop

Siblings:  Valerie (Ike), Wendy (Dean), Lisa (Bob), Derek (Lisa)

Many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased in 2008, by his father Rex Shoop and niece Jane

At the age of 15 Randy started his life career as a faller in mostly the coastal forests of B.C. He considered his greatest accomplishment to be his work that effectively caused the rollback of the WCB rate for independent fallers. His retirement years were filled with his other loves, growing things and selling. Many hours were spent with his tomatoes in his green house or working in, admiring, or picking from his large blueberry patch. For years he was found selling prime produce at farmer’s markets in the surrounding area. The last few years have seen his yard full of logs being processed into firewood, loads of wood being hauled away and the sounds of power saw and splitter going early and late. Another logger gone, another saw lies silent.

Funeral services officiated by Michael Harris, Tuesday, December 14th. 12:30 viewing, service 1:00p.m., at the Upper Skeena recreation Centre Hazelton, B.C…  Internment in the 2-Mile cemetery. Potluck finger food tea to follow
