Ricardo Mansana Cometa

Ricardo Mansana Cometa passed away peacefully the morning of June 9, 2021, at the Bulkley Lodge in Smithers, BC, at the age of 98.

Ricardo was born in Manila, Philippines and moved to Smithers in 1993 with his wife and daughter.  As he did in Manila, he participated actively in community programs.  He was a member of the Pretenders, the Catholic Church Choir, and the Knights of Columbus for several years.

Ricardo was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone.  He will always be lovingly remembered by his children; Arthur and Dolly (Annie and Tony), Alex and Alice (Aloth and Alexis), Arsenia, Angela and Ken, Ricky (Ann, Karen, Louisa, Andrea), Alladin and Ludy (RJ, Arzi, and Nicklaus), Ami and Hanna (Carlo and Arnee); his 7 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous extended family members and friends.  He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Susana, his parents, and all his siblings.

Ricardo was a very passionate and hardworking man who was respected by his family and friends.  He loved to sing and will always be remembered for his solo renditions during choir presentations and gatherings of family and friends.

A Funeral Mass for family only, will be held in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on June 17th followed by a Committal Service at the Columbarium in the Smithers Cemetery at approximately noon for family and friends. Covid restrictions will be followed.
