Ronald Arvid West

Ronald West, 74 years of age, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at his home in South Hazelton BC.

Ron was born April 23, 1945 in Calgary Alta.  With the exception of his first 4 years and time away for post-secondary schooling, he spent his life in South Hazelton, one of 8 brothers and sisters.  

In 1971 Ron married Eve(Lyn) (nee Lassen), welcomed a son (Sydney) in 1973 and a daughter (Nicole) in 1974.  Grandsons Cameron and Riley arrived in 1995 and 2000 respectively. 

Earning his certification in Heavy Duty Mechanics in 1970, Ron worked in the logging industry as a Heavy Duty Mechanic initially until he took the plunge and bought his own log truck, which blossomed into two and finally back to one which he drove and maintained until his retirement in November 2014.  He could repair anything mechanical, and was often called upon by his peers in the industry to do so when no one else could or would.

He built the family home himself from the ground up, and was never more content than when ensuring his yard was immaculate, either with the mower in summer or the plow in winter months.  He is remembered for his love of animals large or small, furred or feathered, and they responded in kind. 

Ronald is predeceased by his parents, and brothers Allen and Lyle.

He is survived by his wife Lyn, son Sydney (Mary), daughter Nicole, brothers David and Lenard, sisters Marian, Myra and Darlene, and grandsons Cameron and Riley.  He  leaves a huge void for his immediate and extended family, and friends. 

 Forever remembered, never forgotten, rest peacefully.
