Rosemarie Elisabeth (Schultz) Kossman

We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and

friend. Rosemarie passed away at Bulkley Valley District Hospital on January 4, 2019 at age 91,

with family by her side.

She was born in Jabel, Germany, on May 16, 1927 and came to Canada in 1956 to visit her sister

for a year. She met Rudi during that year and then spent the rest of her life in Canada, raising

her family and extended family and becoming rooted in this community.

Rosemarie is lovingly remembered and survived by her children, Ralph (Cornelia) Kossman,

Petra (Fraser) Stewart and Hans (Emma) Kossman, as well as her grandchildren, Nicholas, Liam,

Noel, Conor and Isabella. She is survived also by her sister, Christine Toth and her brother,

Dietrich Schultz. Rosemarie was predeceased by her devoted husband, Rudolf Kossman and her

sister, Gisela Gilbert. She will be fondly remembered and missed by her nieces and nephews, as

well as the many long-time friends in Smithers and Telkwa, who knew her door was always

open and the coffee was always on.

A memorial service will be held at Smithers United Church on January 19, 2019 at 2 p.m.

Her family wish to thank Dr. Scholtz for his many years of compassionate care of Rosemarie, as

well as Dr. Walker and Dr. Strauss for her end of life care. Most especially, we thank the

dedicated nurses at BVDH who saw to her wants and needs with such loving kindness these

past six months.
